" Competition Routine Tip 31:
Add skills with counts
"

Cheerwiz.com

[Starting the Routine Section:] You have taught the 1st sequence of the routine with skills and counts separately. Now you want to put them together by adding your skills to your counts (remember just the 1st part of the routine,...don't go on to the cheer yet).
Start by doing the opening skill with counts, then have the team mark the rest of the opening sequence with counts. As they feel more comfortable, start allowing the team to do more skills with counts until you have the opening sequence with counts.

Why do this? For safety reasons it's always good to ease your team into the routine with skills and counts. This allows the team to feel more comfortable with the counts, it allows the choreographer to change counts in the begining before work on the rest of the routine begins, and will begin to increase their endurance.

Next Tip: Have team throw skills with counts at slower speed
