Competition Routine Tip 21: How to hide your weakness: Pyramids"
Here are a couple of ways to hide your team's weakness of pyramids in your routine:
1.) Be creative - Do something NEW and creative and you will get the crowd involved and the judges interested.
2.) Brace it - Always have people bracing the pyramids just in case you need that extra adjustment to save it.
3.) Stay connected - Though it is more difficult to toss a pyramid up and it may score better, it may be in your best interested to keep your flier in contact with her base/middle layer at all times. The best way is to ground up a pyramid. Have everyone start from the ground and lift/toss everyone up into the pyramid. It will have a better chance of hitting and it will add some difficulty to your pyramid.
4.) Transitions - Add transitions into the pyramid Or in the middle of 2 pyramids.
5.) Add to it - Turn your libs into stretches, add hitches to the outside, add an extension in the back, and /or just add another flier in the air. Try to make your pyramid just a bit more interesting.
6.) Nice dismount - Add a flip off OR a twist (full down) off. It is an easy way to make the pyramid seem more advanced.
7.) Use your tall people - If you have tall members on your team, use them to your advantage. They can reach up to make adjustments for the flier and/or save the pyramid.
