"How to keep your team from stepping out of bounds! "

One of the biggest mistakes in cheerleading competition is people stepping out of bonds. It is one of the easiest things to avoid, yet many teams get deducted valuable points for such a simple mistake. Here are some ways to avoid it.

  • Practice on a smaller mat - So the team is used to working in smaller spaces.
  • Keep people away from the lines - When putting together your routine, keep people away from the lines as much as possible.
  • Allow extra space for cross-tumbling - Cheerleaders will have an urge of adrenaline, so make sure you give them extra space in the routine just in case they overdue it.
  • Practice run- Do a practice competition Or go to another competition for more experience. This will ease the team's nerves and make them more aware on the mat.
  • Play "Outside line game" - Play this game throughout practice. Make sure that everyone stays within the lines as you stretch, stunt, tumble, etc. If anyone steps outside the line without permission, then they will have to do pushups. It's a fun game to make the team more aware of the lines.
