A Great way to get your competition team ready is to do performances beforehand the actual competition.



Why is this important? Your team can go through a routine many times in practice, but nothing can explain the feeling as you head onto the mat for an actual competition. There are so many new factors that you have NOT planned for.

Here are some examples:

nerves from the excitement

increased adrenaline could cause your team to overpower cheer skills and get out of control

the lights in your eyes

music change and difficult to hear

increased crowd noise to deal with

dealing with moving on if something does fall

new mat space if it's different from the one you work on

By performing the routine multiple times before the actual competition, your team will be able to adjust to these factors and feel more comfortable with the routine.



How and where can we perform? Here are a list of places to perform:

at a game (basketball,football, etc.)

at an assembly

set up your own private performance

if you have regional cheer performances to qualify for state, then try to perform at as many as possible for experience

set up your own small competition and invite neighboring teams

college teams can perform at High school performances for FREE as a special guest
