What you should know if you are "Basing" for the 1st time!

There are so many things for a base to know when basing for the 1st time. We are just going to give a few basic tips to help:

1.) Squeeze the flier's foot/feet - When the flier is up in a stunt, always squeeze her foot/feet. It will make her feel more comfortable in the air, give you better control, and the stunt will move less.

2.) Use your legs - Always use your legs to gain momentum for putting up stunts, popping down stunts, and tosses.

3.) Lock those arms - When you have the flier up in a stunt, make sure to lock your arms. This will make it easier to hold the stunt and you will shake less.

4.) Keep her in close - When lifting the flier, keep your arms in close and NOT far in front of you. This will make it easier to lift the stunt.

5.) Jump - Think about jumping off of the ground each time you throw a flier up, and as you reach high and catch the flier.

6.) Catch high and absorb with your legs - For the cradle, make sure you catch the flier high and absorb the blow with your legs. This will make the cradle more comfortable for you and the flier.

7) Always keep your eye on the flier - You should never close your eyes, as the flier could fall at any moment and you would need to make an adjustment.

8.) Stay in there - No matter what happens, never back away from a stunt. Stay in there for the catch and the fall if one occurs.

9.) Let go of the foot during fall - If a flier does fall, make sure you let go of her foot. This way she does NOT flip over and land on her head.

10.) Bring flier down safely - During a fall make sure the flier's head, neck, and back are protected at all times. You need to catch high and bring her down at the waist, Or catch her upper body as the flier falls. Her legs and feet are the last thing that you should consider for the catch.
