How do you hold your weight?

Well let's talk about what holding your weight means! This is when the flier reduces the feel of her body weight by holding herself up and positioning her body in a way to make the stunt easier for her bases to hold.

How to hold your weight? There are 2 main ways: holding your weight off of the bases's arms and positioning your body to alleviate extra pulling that causes more strain for the bases.

(1) Hold your weight off of the base's arms by pushing through the base's shoulders and lifting your legs. This places more weight onto the base's legs (which are the stronger muscles), and off of the base's hands/arms. An example would be a flier going up into a stunt, basket, or pyramid.

(2) Proper body position for holding your weight is to keep all your weight to the center by thinking about lifting everything up. The stunt feels heavier when hips are shifting to any side, back, and/or front, and your chest is dropped. This causes the base(s) to have to fight more for the stunt, and the extra strain makes the flier feel heavy.
