"Some exercises to increase flexibility"

Many cheerleaders and coaches are curious what stretches they can do to increase their flexibility. Here are a few:

1.) Get a partner to place your leg on - This is good for warming your legs up for a stretch stunt.


2.) Get a partner to lift your leg - This is a good stretch to prepare you legs and back for scorpions.


3.) The straddle sit - Perfect for warming your hamstrings and inner thighs for toe touches and other jumps.


4.) Use a wall - Utilize a wall to help you stretch your legs, hamstrings, and inner thigh. Can also be done by standing upright.


5.) Walk into your straddle - Utilize your hands to lift yourself up and walk your way up and forward. From there you want to push/swing your legs through, bring them behind you, and place them together. This is a fun and good stretch if you are capable of accomplishing it.


6.) Stand up - This is an easy warm up stretch to warm up your legs and hamstrings. Just make sure you concentrate on keeping your legs straight.


7.) Lay on your back - Again your hamstrings are a vital element in getting great leg flexibility. Here is a good stretch that you can do by yourself or with a partner. This will isolate your hamstring as long as you keep your leg straight.

8.) Front splits - Another good way to stretch your hip flexors and hamstrings.

9.) Bridge - Great for stretching your back, and getting better back flexibility.


10.) Scale Stretch - A partner stretch.


11.) Partner lift - Have a partner lift your leg for you. This way you can focus on keeping your form.


12.) Another scorpion stretch - Another scorpion stretch with a partner and a wall.
