"Tips to catch a flier easier in a 221"
Cheerwiz.com  221's are a common pyramid in college cheerleading. They are crowd effective, easy to do, and can be put up quickly. By trying to put them up fast, the standard is to have the flier toe pitched (or fulled up) onto the pyramid. With that, your middle layer fliers need to understand the best way to catch the flier so that it hits close to 100% of the time. Here are some tips that will help: 1.) (mid-layer flier) Catch the flier high with both arms as she comes up from the toe pitch. 2.) (mid-layer flier) Bring her to you as you catch, because you never know where she could be tossed. 3.) (mid-layer flier) Don't just wait for the flier to land in your hands. 4.) (mid-layer flier) Squeeze her into you as you catch and support her firmly. 5.) (flier) Stay tight. 6.) (flier) Watch your hips and don't sit back. 7.) (flier) Don't go on your toes. It will make it harder for your mid-layers to catch you and it puts your weight forward.
