Now is the time to start looking at Colleges, especially if you want to cheer for them!  Here are the steps that you should take if interested in cheering in college:

1.) Ask yourself what kind of squad you want to be on? COED, All-girl, competitive, game-oriented, large, small, etc. There are so many things to consider. The more competitive teams will require tumbling, while the more game-oriented will ask more in terms of motions and spirit.

2.) Call the coach and ask for a visit. This will give you an opportunity to see what a coach is looking for and check out their requirements. You may also get an opportunity to work out with squad members for FREE. If the squad competes, then you might have the opportunity to watch their routine before they compete. You can find the coaches' emails/phone #'s from the school's websites.

3.) Attend College PREP camps. Many college teams put on College Prep/stunting camps during the year. Take advantage of them right away. They will give you some of the beginner help that you need, and if the college of your preference is putting on the camp then it will give you the opportunity to get to know the team further!

4.) PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE - Take everything you have learned and practice it. If you need tumbling, then take some classes and get ready for tryouts. 5.) Tryouts - Take what you learned and practiced, and perform your tryouts with confidence. It can be overwhelming due to the higher level of talent out there, but don't let that intimidate you. Hit everything sharp from your motions and stunts, and attempt any tumbling that you might have!
