"How to get your teams attention when you talk"
Cheerwiz.com
Trying to talk to your team as a Coach, captain, or teammate can be difficult at times. The team is either tired, bored, and/or not interested. Here are a couple of tips to get their attention and keep it:
1.) Make it short and to the point - Nobody wants a BIG lecture. Make everything you say short and too the point so you don't lose them.
2.) Eye contact - Look them in the eyes. DON'T look down and/or away from them.
3.) Talk firm - Let everyone know that you are the one talking with a firm voice.
4.) Don't talk in circles - This will lose them.
5.) Know what you are talking about - If you have NO idea how to do a cupie, then don't lecture about it. Make sure you know what you are talking about, otherwise NO one will ever listen to you
6.) Think it through - If you have something that you want to say, think about how you want to say it first. You don't want anything to come out wrong, even if you did not intend it to.
7.) "Be Quit" - If everyone else is talking louder than you don't hesitate to tell everyone else to "BE QUIT". (NOTE: Coaches/Captains can do this whenever they want. Teammates need to wait until it's their turn to talk)
