"8 Tips to improve your cartwheel"

Cheerwiz.com

A Cartwheel is one of the first tumbling skills that cheerleaders learn. It is also the mostly done tumbling skill for Jr. High and High School Cheerleaders at tryouts. Here are some ways to clean up your cartwheel:

1.) Have good Rhythm - Go with counts like 1,2,3,4 OR think hand, hand, foot, foot.

2.) Take your time - Do what's comfortable for you and concentrate on your technique.

3.) Legs up - Make sure your legs are above you like a handstand. Most beginners will have their legs in front of them and cause them to go off balance.

4.) On the line - Attempt your cartwheel on a line. If you are having a difficult time staying on, then you may want to look at your technique.

5.) Keep your head in - Don't place your head out, because it will throw your legs forward and makes it more difficult to keep your cartwheel in line.

6.) Legs straight - It looks clean and keeps your body in line.

7.) Point your toes - Cleans it up.

8.) Hands and Feet land separately - Each hand and foot should land at different times, never together.
