"Cheer Camp initiation ideas"
Cheerwiz.com
By the time Summer Cheerleading Camp starts you have a lot of new girls on the team, and you want to find a way to initiate them into the group without HAZING. An ice-breaker is all you need! Here are a couple ideas to get your started:
1.) Trusting Fall - (1 at a time) Start with a new girl with her eyes shut in an elevator and hit a strong T motion. Then have her fall back to 2 bases and a head spot. It's a fun trusting game that is a lot of fun. 2.) Learn something NEW - A good way to find out more about the NEW cheerleader is to start by placing her in the middle of a circle with a megaphone. Have the group ask her questions about herself and the NEW cheerleader will have to respond by answering loudly through the megaphone. It's silly to see some of the NEW cheerleaders respond with the megaphone and promotes cheering. 3.) Deserving - For those squads that want the NEW cheerleaders to understand the importance of wearing the school colors, have the NEW cheerleaders wear black shirts with nothing on them. At the end of the day OR end of camp, present them with a T-shirt with the school colors and name. This will have more meaning to them in the end. NOTE: DO not exclude them or belittle them in any matter, just have the wear a different shirt in the beginning. 4.) Walk down the line - This game promotes teamwork. Place the new cheerleader in an elevator, and place another elevator in front of her. Now have her step to the elevator in front of her. Continue this onto another elevator, until you deceide to stop (maybe after 5 steps). It is a fun initiation that will promote team unity. NOTE: you can make it more difficult by extending the NEW cheerleader to a liberty and having her walk from liberty to liberty. 5.) Learn about the team - Have all of the old cheerleaders spread out. Now all of the NEw cheerleaders have to go and ask each cheerleader 10 of the same questions (questions have been made up by the coach. They need to be directed about the individual,...i.e What is your favorite color?). Now bring everyone in and quiz the New people in front of everyone one at a time to see if they remember the answers. NOTE: you can reward them for correct answers Or punish them with more jumping practice later,...its up to you. 6.) NEw cheerleader Dance - Give them some music and give them an hour to work on a dance. After the hour is up, then they will perform the dance in front of everyone else. NOTE: This helps them work on their interaction skills, promotes teamwork, and is a fun way to get everyone involved.
