"8 ways to clean up your tumbling"
Cheerwiz.com
Cheerleading is a group sport, and everyone needs to look identical to one another. Here are a few tips to help clean up your group tumbling.:
1.) Presentation - Start with your feet together, your hands on hips, chest and head up. 2.) Straight your legs - Keep them straight from the beginning after you jump off the ground and into the tumbling skill (unless the tumbling requires your legs to be bent....i.e. backtuck). Don't bend them on the way down when trying to hit your landing. Just keep them straight throughout the skill. You can bend them a you absorb your landing. 3.) Point your toes - An added touch that will distinguish a good backhandspring from bad. 4.) Legs together - Make sure your legs stay together, and don't separate at all during the skill. 5.) Start with your arms down - When throwing a skill, you cannot start with your hands up as in gymnastics. You want a clean look for tumbling, and the arms up makes the group look out of sync. 6.) Don't look over your shoulder- Some individuals cheat the skill by looking over there shoulder. It takes the skill over to the side and makes them stand out in a BAD way. 7.) Land with your feet together - For a perfect finish. 8.) Squeeze your landing - Don't jump out of your landing. Squeeze and hold your landing to show everyone that you definitely landed it perfectly.
