"7 Ways to make cheer camp fun this summer"
1.) Eat together - Camp is NO fun if the team is separated. Make it a point to have everyone eat together so that you can laugh and get to know some of your new teammates.
2.) Group bonding games - Buy squirt guns for them and have them go at it with one another. This is just one idea of team bonding. It makes camp more enjoyable and promotes team bonding.
3.) Set goals for camp - Talk to the team and find out what they want to get out of camp. It could be stunts, baskets, pyramids, or a new dance. Then focus on those aspects of camp more than NOT.
4.) Pair up Newbie with Veteran - For learning cheers, dance, and/or sidelines try pairing up a new cheerleader with an old one. This will give an opportunity for team members to get to know one another.
5.) Friendly competition - Have a contest. Once you have
decided who your pods/couples are. See who can get a certain stunt first. This friendly competition will make them work harder.
6.) Circle of compliments - At the end of camp, have everyone sit in a circle and have them say something positive about one other person on the team. Once a compliment has been made, no one else can say something to that individual, so everyone gets a compliment.
7.) NO HAZING - Hazing can have a negative effect on team members. No matter how innocent it may be, you never know how some NEW team member might take it.
