"7 Tips to help bases"
.) Lift with your legs NOt your back - Make sure to keep your back straight and lift with your legs which are stronger. This will make the stunt easier and help avoid injury.
.) Finish with your arms slightly before your legs - When lifting a flier off of the ground, start by dipping with your legs and arms. NOw as soon as you have momentum, make sure you finish lifting with your arms faster than your legs. Your arms are weaker than your legs, so it is easier to lift them when you have the momentum. Finish with your legs when the momentum has slowed down. IF you by chance go faster or right with your legs, then you will put too much weight in the arms and you will have to work harder to lift the flier up.
.) Catch high and absorb with your legs - When catching a cradle and/or transition, make sure you reach up and catch the flier high, then absorb with your legs. It will make it and easier catch, and make it more comfortable for the flier.
.) Squeeze the flier's foot/feet- If you squeeze the flier's foot, it will make the flier feel more secure and she will be less likely to move and balance. This will give you more control over the stunt.
.) Place your foot underneath the flier's - When lifting a pyramid and/or stunt from a ground up position, try placing the flier's foot ontop of your own (with your hands on the heel and toe). This will take some of the weight off of your hands.
.) Keep your eyes on the flier - You never know what will happen in a stunt, so always focus on the flier around her waist area.
.) For Safety - focus on head, kneck, and back - When a flier falls, you need to let go of thier feet, and grab high (either around waist or under the flier's arms). If you keep ahold of the flier's feet, then they will flip onto their head and possibly get injured.
