Tryout tips Jr high

 

Practice your motions in a mirror (easy way to gain points)

 

Stretch out for jumps months prior

 

Jumps – Make sure you land with your feet together

 

Jumps – Make sure you practice jump height beforehand

 

Spirit out in front of the judges

 

Always smile

 

Practice any skill taught, more often than not.  This way you are comfortable

 

Make sure you are wearing the proper attire (IE school colors, bow in hair , cheer shoes, etc.)

 

Personality goes a long way for Jr. high cheerleading

Stunts (if apply) – make everything look sharp and clean.  Do not move!

 

Any tumbling is helpful

Tryout tips College (easy)

 

Remember all of the skills above in High school section

 

Tumbling – any where from NO tumbling to a standing backhandspring

 

Stunting AG – Elevators, Extensions, 

 

Stunting CE – chairs, extensions, liberties

 

Baskets – toe touch

 

Mostly anyone can make a squad like this.  Just be able to show a willingness to learn.

 

You probably will not be winning any championships, so game skills will come in handy.

 

 

 

Tryout tips College (medium)

 

Remember all of the skills above in High school section

 

Tumbling – any where from a standing backtuck, full, RO series

 

Stunting AG – Liberties, stretches, ground up stunts, full downs,

 

Stunting CE – liberties, stretches, arabesques, fulldowns, cupies, toss stunts

 

Baskets – backtucks, layouts, birds

 

Try to have some of these skills.  If you are good in 1 specific area then you can make this squad.

 

Try to increase in the skill areas that you are weak to give you a better chance.

 

 

 

 

 

Tryout tips College (hard)

 

Remember all of the skills above in High school section

 

Tumbling – any tumbling with a full

 

Stunting AG – single base stunting, double fulldowns, bow n arrows 

 

Stunting CE – toss stunts, fullup stunts, double fulldowns,

 

Baskets – fulls, double fulls, step out d.fulls, etc.

 

You need to be top of the food chain,  try to have as much as you can and show a willingness to learn.

 

Technique will go a long way with those individuals with different body types, so do not cheat.
